The Toe Back, AKA-TB. This is a basic, 180 degree trick that starts in the front position and ends in the back position. The trick is performed with the rope on your foot. The key to this trick is a bent ski knee. The bent knee lowers the center of gravity and provides balance. Think about this, if you were standing on the beach and someone was pushing you around, would you be better off with your knee bent or straight – given your didn’t want to be pushed around?
Clearly, you would have better balance if you bend your knees. The same holds true for bent knees during a toe back. Now that you have your knee bent, have your rope leg bent also; this will allow you to absorb the pull of the boat. Initiate the turn with your hips, and keep your knee bent and your head up. Congratulations! You just completed a toe back! The trick is worth 100 points.
